The Auditor General, Vlora Spanca, met today with the Information and Privacy Commissioner, Krenare Sogojeva Dermaku.

In the meeting, the Auditor General congratulated Mrs. Sogojeva Dermaku for taking office as Information and Privacy Commissioner and considered that the cooperation between the two institutions they run is more than indispensable.

Furthermore, Spanca introduced the Commissioner with the mandate and role of the National Audit Office, focusing particularly on the way information is obtained and handled for audit purposes.

Sogojeva Dermaku, on the other hand, considered that the outcomes of the audit work have an inevitable role on increasing the transparency and public information and, through audit recommendations, on increasing the influence on public institutions to adhere to legal norms such as those on protection of privacy and provision of access to public documents.

The Auditor General and the Information and Privacy Commissioner agreed that cooperation between the institutions they are in the lead of should be increased for the common interest, especially in terms of promoting transparency and the right to information.

The meeting was also attended by Safet Berisha, Director of Anti-Fraud and Legal Affairs Department in NAO and Loreta Salihu from the Information and Privacy Agency.
